A hydraulic hose can blow or burt for a number of reasons… wear and tear, pressure wtc. However when replacing the hose and fitting new hose fittings, or even if using new connectors on a hose repair, we suggest you follow the following steps when undertaking the repair task.

  1. Always clean the area where fitting and hose connections meet. As we discussed previously, dirt and contamination should be kept out of the plant at all costs.
  2. If any adaptors are required, now is a good time to use. Replace with new if necessary and always adhere to the manufacturer’s specifications for the correct amount of torque..06---Ensure-Fittings-are-Correct
  3. Lay the hose assembly into routing position to verify the hydraulic hose length.
  4. Thread the hydraulic hose assembly onto the hose adaptor. It might require fitting the hose assembly directly to the hose fitting at this stage, if it aids in the ease of positioning the joint correctly. Without twisting the hose, thread the other end08---Fitting-Prior-To-Crimping.
  5. Properly torque both ends – again, subject to the hose manufacturers or hose distributors guidelines. Check the measurement with a calipers to see if the measurement is within the same guidelines.06---Checking-Connection-With-Calipers
  6. Inspect the hose for any leaks by running the plant or machinery for a duration of time. Check the contacts between the hydraulic hose fittings and the hose itself are good. Ensure that there is no air in the system – as it will impair performance and possibly damage the plant.
